Cuidate y cuidame, 2025

Cuidate y Cuidame, is a painting made with natural dyes by the Textile Artist Roberta Schreyer. It's an interpretation of the artist's daily route to her studio in Oaxaca, Mexico. This painting captures evanescent light reflecting on the mountains with punctuating clouds like caves in the sky. It is a love letter to Oaxaca and the people who made Roberta feel at home during her residency in Oaxaca de Juarez, Mexico.

Material / Technique: natural dyes on cotton. The cotton is deadstock fabric. Deadstock fabric is unused, surplus textiles left over from previous production runs or discontinued stock, often from fashion brands or textile mills.

Artist Roberta Schreyer

Roberta Schreyer is a London-based Textile Artist, investigating how the arts can set hope in the climate narrative and restore the broken human-nature relationship to encourage social and environmental justice. Her practice integrates and preserves ancient knowledge with a strong focus on natural dyes aiming to build communities of care to achieve environmental and social resilience. Roberta creates many of her pieces on deadstock fabric, through her work, these fabrics are saved from landfill or destruction.
